How to Tell if Your Spouse is Cheating

Question:

"I feel my husband is cheating on me, but I am not sure. How can you tell if your spouse is cheating?"

Answer:

There is no clear-cut answer for this question, but I would have to say that innocent people typically do not:

1. Fly off the handle when someone questions their innocence

2. Make you feel inferior for even questioning their innocence

3. Cast blame on others (This is typically a form of deflection.)

4. Look away when answering a question (Matthew 6:22 and Luke 11:34)

5. Take offence when you ask them where they have been or what they have been doing (unless you ask in a way that is too controlling or condescending)

6. Consistently leave the room or the house to have a cell phone conversation

7. Secretly text when others are not around

8. Have secret email accounts

9. All of a sudden start planning trips that do not include other family members

Like I said before, there is no clear-cut answer when it comes to detecting an affair, but one thing that you have on your side is that most people are not very good liars.

If you are concerned that your husband / wife is cheating on you, I would encourage you to stay out of the "gray areas" and only act if you find hard evidence of an affair. I like to say that affairs are often (not all the time) like beach balls in that if you let them, they will often find a way of coming to the surface. As a matter of fact, if you do not operate within the realm of hard evidence, you will tend to get overwhelmed with all of the "what ifs" and "how comes".
